In summer this year, it became known that Stephen Soderbergh has not only returned to the big cinema but also was working on a new film. The director of Oscar-winning film Traffic and Ocean’s Eleven will come back again in 2018 with a new movie. However, his previous film was shot on a Hollywood-quality rig while the new one will be shot with iPhone’s camera that will capture every action. Hopefully, filming feature will come into Apple future list of technological opportunities and will be developed in new devices.
The name of the upcoming movie is Unsane. According to the plot of the film, the main character is committed to a psychiatric institution and cannot fully understand where reality ends and insanity begins. It will debut in the theaters on March 23, 2018. As Deadline states, Steven Soderbergh will release the film with the help of Fingerprint Releasing via Bleecker Street.
The list of stars starring in Unsane will include Joshua Leonard, Juno Temple, Claire Foy, Joshua Leonard, Amy Irving, and Aimee Mullins. There’s no information regarding the iPhone model that was used for Soderbergh’s new movie. Taking into account the fact that it was filmed this summer, probably it was the iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus.
In any case, the details about the upcoming movie are still unclear and somewhat murky. For the moment, it is known that it will be a horror movie with the spirit of Jordan Peele’s bestseller Get Out, which was critically acclaimed. This, of course, is not the first movie shot with the help of iPhone, but it has all the chances to be the most high-profile project shot on iPhone taking into account the triumph of Soderbergh’s past movies.
I guess we’ll know the iPhone model, as soon as the movie comes out in 2018. Fortunately, the director will show the behind-the-scenes details regarding the way he managed to film his new project.
